  An upgrade to a 'Premier inn' but you can get deals that make it cheaper than the horrible Travel Lodge in the Maidstone town centre. Lovely pool. Staff are polite. We stayed over Christmas and received a stocking which was a nice touch. However, there was confusion over the cost of the rooms and Mum ended up paying more than was expected. She also tried to book the hotel for last week but had trouble on the phone as the call centre was in India or something and they didn't know anything about the hotel or area. Better off booking online or trying to call hotel directly.

  Have stayed before but this time surprised that we could not have a room without two beds in it. We are in our 70's and the room had little space for sitting with only 1 chair. A second chair was provided but this reduced the amount of room to move around in. The second single bed was useless because it could not be converted to a settee and therefore it had no back to it and could not be used for sitting on. It also completely obscured the radiator so had it been working it would have heated the second bed and nothing else. Bizarre for the 21st century!
  
  The antiquarian central heating system was a mystery. It was permanently switched off and there was no way it could be adjusted. Heating seems to be provided from the corridors where the radiators out there were permanently on. Obviously the hotel needs a major refurbishment and is not up to 21st century standards. Pity since it used to be a class hotel and the staff matched it. Now the staff are excellent but the hotel certainly doesn’t match them. A major management problem here.
  We will not be returning on our family annual reunion trip to Kent in August.

  Fabulous Company venue which can provide a multitude of different conference rooms & the service that goes with it. The catering facilities easily coped with our 150 approx guests & the technical IT facilities worked flawlessly. With ample parking & being so close to all motorway connections I have no hesitation in recommending the Mercure to all.

  Don't go. Staff & food are good. The rooms are very small & need to be demolished, very over priced a travel lodge or premier is far better. Grounds are beautiful. Did not like being woken up at 5.30 am by the inflation of a hot air balloon. When I asked at reception if this would happen again they had no idea.
